Design Your Rug
Choose Your Material

1: Choose Your Material

Material selection is the cornerstone of custom rug design. With over 1000 different options at The Perfect Rug, how do you know which is right for your room? We’ve done the hard work for you, by breaking our materials down by wool, sisal, synthetic, and jute/seagrass. Understanding the intended placement and use of the rug, the foot traffic, and personal preferences for texture and comfort are crucial considerations.

Choose Your Color

2: Choose Your Color

Interior design is centered around the use of color, and we have curated the most extensive line of rug colors in the industry. Hold your samples against the key elements of your space, such as flooring, furniture, art, and accessories. Here’s a pro tip: take time to analyze your color selections in soft daylight and with your interior lights on for a true representation of the color’s depth.

Choose Your Shape and Size

3: Choose Your Shape and Size

We mean it when we say “any shape, any size”. The Perfect Rug was founded on the principle of true customization, and we have crafted some challenging pieces. Our Rug Sizing Guide has a treasure trove of good advice and tips on how to measure and select your ideal size. L-shapes, racetracks, asymmetrical rugs are what our artisans live for, so be creative.

4: Choose Your Border

We have nearly endless border choices, but they really fall into three categories:

  • Serged borders are designed to blend in, but color selection can add some pop to your creation
  • Canvas borders are more obvious and act more as a “frame” to your rug
  • Barely There is for the minimalist in you, and allows the rug material to stand out
