When selecting a rug, ensure that the front legs of your couch and chairs can rest on it comfortably. A standard 8x10 rug generally works well, but depending on the dimensions and layout of your room, a custom 8.5 x 11 rug might be the ideal choice.

Whether you opt for a custom rug that fits under your bed and surrounding furniture or smaller rugs placed around the bed, the goal is to warm and frame the room within the correct proportions.

To effectively cover the bed and nightstand with a rug, you'll need at least an 8' x 10' rug. Make sure to leave at least two feet of rug space on each side for a clear walkway. For a balanced and stable foundation, place two-thirds of the rug beneath the bed.

Placing a small rug on one or both sides of the bed introduces a soft texture underfoot and creates balance in the room. This solution is great for small spaces.

On the other hand, runners on either side of the bed provide a warm and inviting atmosphere underfoot. Generally, they measure at least 2 feet in width and can extend up to 8 feet in length.

We recommend leaving at least 24 inches of space on all sides so that chairs can stay completely on the rug when moved away from the table. A larger rug, such as a 9x12 size, is best for accommodating a fully extended table, making it ideal for entertaining guests with 8 chairs.

This rug is well-proportioned to the table, allowing chairs to slide out easily on all sides while still remaining on the rug. Tip: For a six chair layout the minimum size is traditionally an 8x10.

When placing a large round area rug under a round table, it creates a cohesive feel in your space. For a 48" dining table, it's best to choose a rug that is at least 8' in diameter. For a 60" dining table, opt for a rug that is at least 9' in diameter.

There are no standard-sized hallways, so most need a custom-designed runner. You’ll want to ensure the rug is long enough to cover the length of the hall or entryway without overwhelming the space, and wide enough to still leave visible floor between the rug and side walls. PRO TIP: Add a non-slip pad to keep the runner in place.

Make sure there is a minimum of 12 to 24 inches of floor space between the wall and the edge of the rug. By subtracting 24 inches from the dimensions of your entryway, you will create a 12-inch gap between the walls and the edges of your rug.
